Eden MacAdam-Somer is one of the most exciting and versatile young musicians performing today. Her music transcends genre through soaring violin and fiddling, sweet vocals, and percussive dance. She has been a featured soloist with symphony and chamber orchestras, jazz and swing bands, and Eastern European and American folk ensembles. She has been an artist at the Aspen and Beijing International Music Festivals, and, with her contemporary folk duo, Notorious, has traveled across the continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, India, Iceland, the UK, and Afghanistan. She earned her BM and MM at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in classical performance, and is currently working on her Doctorate at New England Conservatory as the first DMA student to have been accepted in the groundbreaking Contemporary Improvisation department.

In between studies and touring, Eden chairs the Preparatory and Continuing Education department for Contemporary Improvisation at NEC and maintains an active performance and recording career in the Boston area, beguiling her audiences with a style that is truly her own.
